Southwest Greens Nevada began designing and supplying synthetic putting greens and synthetic lawns in the Vegas Valley in 1996; making SWG Nevada one of the first companies to introduce this amenity to Valley residents. Originally a satellite office of the corporate entity, Southwest Putting Greens International, SWG Nevada was purchased by current owner Randy Kleiner in 2001. Before purchasing the Las Vegas operation, Randy served as the Operations Manager for almost 2 years, learning every aspect of putting green and synthetic turf design and installation.

Long before the current drought forced watering restrictions valley wide, Randy saw the need for an alternative to natural grass. Working with manufacturers of synthetic turf, Randy began to develop ideas to make synthetic turf more realistic in touch and appearance. Many of these enhancements were in fact put into practice by the turf manufacturing companies, resulting in the more realistic products available today. With the turf now beginning to look more like a natural indigenous product, SWG Nevada worked with the Southern Nevada Water Authority to include synthetic turf in the Xeriscape program. Randy also lobbied the various homeowners associations throughout the valley to allow synthetic turf in the front yard landscaping, as well as the backyard.
